So, we’re simply recognizing players whose bodies have developed faster in many cases."<BR/><BR/>I just went to a 10-year-old All Star game. The team is coached by a pro scout, who is father of one of the players. While there were a few bruisers on the team, there were an equal number of "little guys" who were tiny. All Stars is NOT about whose body is bigger; it's about TALENT.<BR/><BR/>I agree with the other author who said talent should not be spread out evenly. When my son was in Little League, they had a Majors program and a Minors program. It was an excellent way to divide up the talent and ensured that everyone got to play on the appropriate level.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6321849828013388405.post-76779022555240123582008-07-07T05:02:00.000-07:002008-07-07T05:02:00.000-07:00People like Fred are not only what's wrong with yo...People like Fred are not only what's wrong with youth sports, but what's wrong with this great country! Where's the toughness or the fight? I feel sorry for America's future if it is ruled by guys like Fred Engh. By overprotecting our kids self esteem, we ruin their ability to fend for themselves down the road.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6321849828013388405.post-67533451748960239932008-07-05T20:16:00.000-07:002008-07-05T20:16:00.000-07:00Great points. We wouldn't want to hurt little Johnny's feelings that he is not as smart as Timmy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
